McGregor vs Nate Diaz fight updates and result at UFC 196

Diaz said: “If I’m not in the best shape I’ve got to start slow and pick it up from there,” and he did just that. A really poor first round where he looked sluggish it was impossible to see how that second round could unfold. But it did.
McGregor is humbled. He looks shellshocked. He said: “I took the chance going at 170 but Nate came in. I felt I took him in the first but I didn’t utilise my energy efficiently.
“I’m humble in victory and in defeat. I respect Nate. It is what it is. I’ll face it like a man.”

I could understand why you might think I’m having you on with all this, but they say seeing is believing, so watch it for yourself. This did happen:
McGregor was toying with Diaz for two and a half minutes in the round and then Diaz started throwing bombs of his own. Diaz was badly cut on the eye and seemed to think ‘well, I’ve got nothing to lose’. He put his hands by his side and both just slugged it out. McGregor’s movement was good but he got tagged a couple of times and never recovered.
McGregor’s left hand was really damaging Diaz but he never stepped it up from there. Diaz on the other hand smelled blood and attacked. He kept landing the lefts and rights to the chin of the Irishman.

McGregor took the fight to the ground but was too dazed to defend himself properly. Diaz locked in the rear naked choke and that’s all she wrote.
